Today, the Ukrainian parliament passed the required legislation in accordance with the European Commission’s recommendations on anti-corruption and national minorities. On the latter, we have taken into account the Venice Commission’s conclusions. We anticipate that EU leaders will appropriately recognize Ukraine’s efforts, and that the EU will follow through on its related promises. We had seven recommendations and completed everything that was expected of us in December.

The International Coalition of States for the Return of Deported Ukrainian Children met for the first time today. Forcible deportation is one of this war’s most heinous crimes and a clear indicator of Russia’s genocidal policy. The world knows that Russian crimes against Ukrainian children and families are not isolated cases but rather part of an orchestrated effort by the Russian state system. The relevant work of the International Criminal Court and the arrest warrant for the main Russian criminal demonstrate unequivocally that the deportation of children, and all Ukrainians, will not go unpunished. I thank everyone who is already working with Ukraine to return the children. Thank you for your efforts and kind hearts.

I spoke with Estonia’s Prime Minister KajaKallas. In the wake of Russia’s morning attempts to hit Ukrainian civilian infrastructure with missiles, I emphasized the importance of further strengthening Ukraine’s air defense. This task is particularly relevant for the frontline regions of Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, and Odesa, where it will help protect both the city and the grain corridor. We also discussed the importance of maintaining EU political and financial support for Ukraine, as well as EU unity in light of the expected #EUCO summit decisions to open accession negotiations and provide 50 billion in support. Ukraine, for its part, is fulfilling all of its obligations to the EU. We focused separately on joint efforts to counter Russian disinformation and collaborate on cyberdefense.

Today, I had an important conversation with U24 gov ua ambassadors. We took stock of the funds raised for recovery. These funds helped deliver thousands of drones, 200 high-quality intensive care vehicles, armored first aid vehicles, hundreds of generators for hospitals, and other equipment. Residential buildings and schools are under construction, and we already have rebuilt hospitals as well as a humanitarian mine clearing center. These millions of dollars have been provided by various donors ordinary people as well as companies from over a hundred countries. I thank everyone who joined United24’s efforts, as well as our platform’s team.

I am grateful to Japan and Prime Minister Kishida230 for the decision to provide an additional 1 billion in assistance to Ukraine as well as their readiness to further increase the total to 4.5 billion. This is significant support for the recovery of Ukraine and our economy. Japan stands firmly with Ukraine and our people. We will keep working together to bring our common victory closer.

Ukraine will fight for its own interests as well as the fair interests of every free nation. Because when we are able to defend ourselves, this empowers everyone across the world who values freedom and international order as much as we in Ukraine do.
